PSYCHOLOGY OF COLLAGE WORKSHOP

ART STUDENTS LEAGUE OF NEW YORK

MIXED MEDIA WORKSHOP

JANUARY 27, 29, 30, 2020 6-9:30PM

In this hands-on workshop, students will experiment with collage as a powerful form of artistic expression.  Using images and photographs collected from their own sources, participants will learn how to create hand-cut paper collages with personal meaning.  Participants will be introduced to the instructor’s philosophy, “The Psychology of Collage,” which explores collage as a metaphor for memory and identity.  The fundamentals of process, planning, composition, and perspective will be covered in detail.  Group discussion will be an exciting opportunity to further understand this medium. All levels welcome.

Currently course is full.

PARTICIPANT FEEDBACK

“It was really perfect.  Steve opened up a new way of seeing, which I will use in my mosaic art.  He is a gifted teacher and jaw-dropping artist.  What a wonderful experience!” Joan G, New York City

“I liked everything about this workshop! I’ve done some collage previously but found Steven’s ‘personal’ approach refreshing and relaxing.  I’m now constantly ‘sculpting with my scissors’…thanks, Steven!” Jane L, Toronto

“This workshop was a fascinating mix of pragmatic, hands-on instruction in collage, informed by psychological insights about the way we create narrative throughout our lives.” Lisa B, New York City
